1946 Mountaineer Boots Black – The quintessential heritage mountaineer boot

Inspired by 1940s military mountain boots, the Pike Brothers 1946 Mountaineer Boots in Black embody the ruggedness and authenticity of Heritage style. These boots are constructed with Norwegian welt construction (Zwienaht), a traditional technique that bonds the insole to the midsole for superior torsional rigidity and optimal waterproofing.

The thick, durable full-grain cowhide leather is dyed deep black for a sophisticated and versatile look. The "Gelande" commando sole provides maximum grip on all terrains, while the quick-lacing hooks allow for precise and rapid adjustment.

Made in Portugal using the purest artisanal tradition, these boots are designed to last for decades and develop a unique patina over time.

Technical characteristics

  • Upper: 100% full-grain bovine leather
  • Construction: Norwegian assembly (Norwegian Welt)
  • Sole: Commando/Gelande type for all-terrain grip
  • Lacing: quick hooks (Schnellschnurosen)
  • Manufacturing: Made in Portugal

Method for measuring your foot

  1. 1
Barefoot or with a thin sock

At the end of the day, while standing, measure the weight distributed on both feet.

  2. 2
Press your heel against a wall

Place your foot on an A4 sheet of paper, with your heel in the corner between the wall and the floor.

  3. 3
Mark the tip of the big toe

Draw a line perpendicular to the sheet at the most advanced point.

  4. 4
    Measure in centimeters

Refer to the table above. Unequal feet? Take the measurement of the longer one.

Hold Fast tips for making the right choice

  • Between two sizes? Always choose the next size up, the leather will mold to your foot during the first few weeks.
  • Thick socks? For Tanker, Mountaineer or Explorer boots, worn with wool socks, take +1 EU size.
  • Goodyear stitched leather Very stiff for the first 2 weeks. The leather softens gradually, don't rely on the feel when trying it on.
  • High kick or pronounced arch? Opt for Mountaineer (long lace) or Explorer (upward lace) rather than Low Quarters.
  • First port 1 to 2 hours the first time, then gradually increase. Avoid long walks from day 1.
  • 14-day returns Try your shoes on indoors on a carpet. No returns accepted if the sole shows signs of external wear.
